Have you noticed how expensive it can be to buy raspberries and currants in supermarkets and greengrocers?  And yet they are so easy to grow and they take up very little room.  We have new stocks of raspberry and currant bushes for you to plant for fruiting this summer.  So the most important thing you will have to remember to do is to keep picking the fruit as it ripens and net them over to prevent the birds from stealing all that luscious bounty.  

February is a great time to be thinking ahead to the lovely vegetables you’ll be harvesting from your garden later in the season.  So come and choose the seeds you’ll be needing from our extensive selection.  You can start right now by sowing broad beans in the garden and salad onions, lettuce, summer cabbage, tomatoes and spinach indoors.  We have all the seed trays and compost you need to get you started.

Seed potatoes are in stock now at £4.49 for a 2.5kg net.  Start chitting early tubers ready to harvest by late May.  We also have smaller bags which are just right if you’re thinking of growing potatoes in bags. We have them in stock at £9.99 for three. These are a no mess method of gardening which produces really good results.  By planting just three tubers in the bag and topping up with compost as the plants grow you can harvest a substantial crop without the need for digging!  

From the small shallot type onions 'Pikant' and Golden Gourmet' at £2.49 for 12 to the large 'Stuttgart Giant' and 'Red Baron' onions at £1.99 for 50.   Great trouble free additions to your vegetable bed.

Let's not forget the pretty side of gardening.  We have plenty of summer flowering bulbs to choose from and these pretty fresh Primula Primlet plants are £1.99 each as are the pots of growing Tete a Tete daffodils.  Such cheerful harbingers of Spring!  Plant them outside or create a lovely indoor display in one of our beautiful Kew Pots - they'll last much longer than cut flowers and bring a welcome Spring-time feel into the home.
